Celebrating 100 Years!
"A Step in Faith... The Journey Continues"
One hundred years is such a historic event! We are all so blessed to have been here for this happy event. God is so faithful to his people isn’t he? We had many participants and supporters of our big weekend! There were certainly a lot of things to do.
We would like to thank God for giving us the grace to complete the task that was set before us. We would like to especially thank the committee members who helped to make this a reality. Thank you also to everyone who helped with any aspect of the weekend. Everyone pitched in and did whatever it took to get the job done which made the whole event enjoyable.
Even though the weekend started out drizzling as we set up stands on Friday evening, God smiled on us and gave us a few hours of sunshine and a breeze to help dry up the water holes. The coolness in the air made for good coffee, hot chocolate and hot cider sales. By 2:30 we had sold out of all of the taco dinners and by 4:30 all of the pork chops. At the end of the day we only had a few chicken quarters left. The Elephant Ear stand also sold out of the 250 elephant ears they had prepared. The community certainly responded well to the food sales! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the food sales. It was a pleasure to have had so many come and spend time with us.
We started out the day with 45 participants in the 5K run/walk. Throughout the day, we had various activities available…youth activities, youth and adult peddle pulls, piñatas, corn hole just for fun, corn hole for competition, horse drawn covered wagon rides, hay rides, cake walk and live entertainment from 10:45 – 7:15. The day ended with the drawings. There were 3 quilts and 126 grand raffle prizes.
We as a church community reflected 1 Corinthians, Chapter 12 where Paul refers to the church as having many parts but we are all one body. Every part, no matter how small or big, is important to the whole body. St. Joseph surely has been watching over us these past 100 years. Our prayer is that he will continue to watch over us and keep our parish alive as we journey into the next 100 years. Let us continue to take “A Step In Faith” so that “The Journey Continues.”
